QelIS boqHarmey: Alice in Wonderland
A bilingual Klingon-English translation
Following the success with his Klingon translation of the classic tale „The Little Prince„ in 2018, Klingon Teacher Lieven L. Litaer decided to publish a Klingon version of the beloved children’s book „Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland“ written by Lewis Carroll. The book was heavily featured as an inspiration for the fictional main character of Captain Michael Burnham on the hit-series „Star Trek: Discovery“ and quoted on several occasions. A few parts from the book were even translated into Klingon in the subtitles on Netflix. Enjoy this stunning story in Klingon, including a new English back-translation!

About the Author
Lieven L. Litaer, a Belgian architect who lives in Germany, belongs to the few people in the world who speak Klingon fluently.
Being a huge Star Trek fan, he started learning the language in 1995 and quickly got a good sense for it, due to his experience with other languages. His knowledge of Klingon lead him to the honorable position of a Beginners’ Grammarian at the Klingon Language Institute in 2000, and one year later, he organized the first ever annual gathering of the KLI outside the USA.
In the following years, he initiated a Klingon language gathering in Germany which has become the largest in the world today. In the meantime, he worked on multiple translation projects like websites, software interfaces, music groups and even an opera. Starting his YouTube channel in 2011 he got known worldwide as the “Klingon Teacher from Germany”.
In 2013, he updated the German edition of The Klingon Dictionary and in 2017 he published his own work, the first exercise book entitled Klingonisch für Einsteiger (“Klingon for Beginners”). His Klingon translation of The Little Prince of 2018 was awarded the „Deutscher Phantastik Preis“ in 2019. In the same year, he wrote a Klingon phrasebook named “Kauderwelsch Klingonisch – Wort für Wort”.
Through the year, Lieven L. Litaer is regularly seen on multiple conventions and universities teaching Klingon to those interested. His latest achievement for the Klingon language was his contribution of the Klingon subtitles for the first season of Star Trek: Discovery in 2017, which are available worldwide outside the US and Canada.
Lieven L. Litaer is married since 2008 and now lives with his wife and his daughter in Germany.
